Stylish Trends in Custom Girls Bedding

Custom bedding is a wonderful option when deciding to purchase girls bedding and is especially great for those that are having trouble finding a bedding set that is right for them. This bedding choice is also excellent for customers that want their special little lady to have bedding that is especially made for them and only them. Custom girls bedding allows a customer to create a unique and personalized space for the little girl. When looking to create and purchase custom girls bedding there are many options available.

Most companies that offer custom girls bedding have a large selection of fabric for the customer to select from. This can make it simple to design and create the set. The customer will be allowed to mix and match all different patters, colors, and styles to create a unique bedding set that will fit in well with the little girls personal style and personality.

Some custom bedding options include the ability for customers to provide their own fabric. This is also a great option for people that have a specific pattern or fabric in mind that they need to coordinate with their home or the child’s room. When a customer provides their own fabric they have the benefit of knowing exactly what the fabric, pattern and colors look like in person, therefore making the purchase of additional room decor easier.

Another benefit of designing a room with custom girls bedding is the addition of adding special and unique options to the bedding ensemble such as accent cording, ruffles and trim. Often, it is the specific attention to details that make the bedding set look and feel unique. Many companies that make custom girls bedding will also offer monogramming as a optional detail adding the special element of personalization to the childs room.

Several bedding manufacturers also offer a wide variety of coordinatng decor and accessories that perfectly compliment the custom girls bedding. Some of these accessories include lamps, decorative pillows, wall decor and window treatments. Additionally, some of these accessories can be personalized with the child’s initials such as the decorative pillows and wall art.

This unique type of children’s bedding creates a special and memorable experience especially if the child can assist in the design and completion of their custom bedding. The child will feel a sense of accomplishment knowing she assisted in the decisions and that the bedding was specifically made for her. If a little girl helps make the bedding decisions she is also more likely to enjoy and appreciate her space.

For families who have this option, designing a room with custom girls bedding is a wonderful way to create a special haven for a special child.

Points and Ideas For Decorating Kid’s Rooms

Kids rooms need to please both adults and children and provide a safe environment for multiple functions. How can all this be achieved in one room?

Kids love to be creative. Most kids bedrooms are decorated according to themes. Every child has something special they love. It can be butterflies, fish, or anything that can be developed into a theme for their room. Girls of course love the feminine colors, princess motifs, or ballerinas, and don’t forget the up dated Hannah Montana. Boys like the sports, baseball, football, soccer, skateboards, music, or high tech themes. Boys also like to be rugged and build forts or tents. Let the child tell you what colors he or she prefers. You can take a child drawing of what he or she envisions the room to be and develop a plan to decorate their room. The child may tell you in the drawing the sun is rising and you could use a beautiful yellow color as the backdrop for the walls. They may like flowers which can be placed on the bedding or the walls. Get the children to communicate what makes them feel happy and comfortable. By allowing them to help contribute to the decorating process they will develop planning skills, time management, a budget while shopping, and coordination of colors and patterns.

In the room you will need to designate areas for play and study, and a place to relax for sleeping. The placement of a rug can define a space and separate the study area from the sleeping area. Below we discuss how lighting, color and furniture will help designate the different areas. Texture of the rugs, bedding and surfaces will also help design the different spaces for the children to function in their rooms. You want to design so you achieve the highest and best use of the space.

Color plays an important part in decorating a room for a child. Certain high intensity colors, red for example may be to stimulating for their rooms. The brighter colors would be best used for accessories or organizational items. The bed linens might be another place you could introduce a brighter color.

Lighting also will be a key factor in developing multiple functioning areas. Proper task lighting for the study reading area, more subtle lighting for the sleeping area. Installing a dimmer switch might help to achieve the desired effect for when it’s time to wind down and sleep.

Lets talk a little about furniture. Selection of furniture depends upon several factors. How long do you plan to keep the furniture, will it be an investment? If so selecting a style and quality of furniture that will grow with the child is important. Paint and fabric are easy and inexpensive to change when you need to “grow the look.” Perhaps you want to purchase a juvenile looking set of furniture when they are young and upgrade when the child grows. This is not a bad idea. Most juvenile furniture sets that still have life can be sold after the child upgrades to a better quality set of furniture. The second group of furniture selected will probably last for the teen years, could go to college or be recycled for a guest bedroom. You can use built in furniture pieces for a custom look, or to develop a theme. Loft beds with desks underneath are another option to increase usable floor space. Or a furniture set with a storage bed and computer desk and hutch for storage.

Storage of course will always be needed in childrens rooms. Arrange frequently used items so they have easy accessibility. The average kids room has limited square footage, so every inch will count.
Increase the space available by organizing the closet. Vertical shelves with pull out baskets can hold clothing, toys, and treasures. Shelving to the top of the closet can hold items not used very often, suitcases, extra bedding, sports equipment, collections. Double hang rods for clothing. Top rod for seasonal items, uniforms, bottom for everyday use. Of course color coordinate the hangers and baskets with the room so if the closet doors are left open it will be a continuous space. With color coordination it will be easy for the children to pick up and put items in their place. Arranging the closet could turn into a game or a lesson with a directory so the child can learn life skills.

Combining patterns in your fabrics will add interest and life to the room. Select a floral or novelty pattern, a stripe, and a small dot or repeated pattern to build the room. The key is to keep all the fabrics in the same color family and the correct scale. Decorating consultants are available to offer guidance so your assured of professional results. All rooms need to be decorated age appropriate. Some items can grow with the child. Remember paint and fabric are easy and inexpensive to change when you need to “grow the look.” A neat, organized, room pulled together visually will help the child develop many life skills and appreciation for their surroundings.

A few easy inexpensive ideas and projects I’ve used for girls rooms are as follows:

Stamp a motif on the wall with a precut rubber stamp and paint to coordinate with your theme. I developed a Disney Princess theme and stamped Princess crowns on the wall and embellished the crowns with jewels. Just randomly add packaged jewels, pearls, or mirrored stones to make the crowns dazzle. Sometimes party favors can be used to embellish curtains or other items in a room. I used the clear acrylic “glass slippers” to finish off a Cinderella room valance.

Another idea position a half round sconce upside down as a focal point for a canopy. Gather the fabric for the canopy and attach inside the sconce, flow fabric out of the sconce, arch back on the sides with tie backs. This will give a soft, dreamy appearance depending on the amount and type of fabric used. Sconces can be found at thrift stores and painted to coordinate with the fabric, or covered with the fabric by attaching the fabric with spray on adhesive.

Ideas for boys rooms:

Graphic wall art can be used effectively for boys rooms. It gives color, interest, and can create a focal point in a room. It can be used in conjunction with artwork or posters. If your working with a race car theme, you could use a tire tread pattern on the walls. Paint a tire and do loops or figure eights. Finish with a black and white checkered board for a headboard or black and white tiles for the flooring. Little matchbox model cars can be attached to replace furniture knobs, or use for embellishment across a valance or shelf.

Laser printers can print a mural photo of a special place, event, or skyline and be attached to the wall as wallpaper or framed out as large art piece.

Remember for children’s rooms hang things at their level, so they can enjoy them.

Make a child room a place for them to retreat, have fun, and be proud to show to their friends.

Themes For a Girl’s Room

Once your little girl starts to grow up you are going to have to get rid of the baby designs. No matter how much you want them to stay little they are going to grow, and along with that growing comes the beginnings of opinions.

One theme that you can use in a little girl’s room is the Sugar and Spice theme. To create this kind of a room all you need to do is choose pretty colors, pastels are the ones chosen most often for a little girl’s room. Then you will simply need to select things that represent your little girl being a little girl. For example, you can choose butterflies or flowers as the design for the room or you can even combine the butterflies and flowers together to create a pretty garden. Once you choose the design, you need to stencil things onto the wall or choose a border to place around the painted room. Top everything off with some soft and pretty curtains.

Another cute theme for girls is an ocean themed room. To make this room you will need to have some blue and white paint, but you will also need a sandy colored carpet. To get ideas on the colors to use you will want to look at ocean themed wallpaper or even ocean themed furniture. What you will want to do is paint the walls a blue color, have the floor be the sand area of the beach, and paint the ceiling white for the clouds in the sky. You can also add some ocean borders around the room, and some gauzy styled curtains.

Angles, fairies, and elves are themes for girls that can be used for a wide variety of ages. You can use all three of these as one theme or you can choose only one. No matter which one you choose you will want to select light and airy colors, mainly the pastels. You will also want to select light and fluffy bedding and curtains to help create that girly look. Add some sparkle to the room by using glitter or even silver paint.

Flowers are another great theme for a girl’s bedroom. You can choose any kind of flower you want, but the brighter the colors you choose the better. When decorating the room you will want to find borders that are designed with the flower you have in mind, but that will also coordinate with the paint colors that you chose for the room.
